Page is a planned community of 8,000 residents, located near the Arizona-Utah border, and home to Lake Powell, a popular recreational lake. The town is approximately 134 miles north of Flagstaff. Page began in 1957 as a camp for the workers who were building the Glen Canyon Dam, but it continued to thrive after the dam was completed into the progressive and self-sufficient city it is today. The town of Page sits atop Manson Mesa, overlooking Wahweap Bay of Lake Powell and it has become a major tourist resort area. It's central location to not only Lake Powell, but the Grand Canyon's North and South Rims, Bryce and Zion Canyons and Monument Valley, brings thousands of visitors to the town each year. Page is home to a ten-mile urban hiking/biking trail that features spectacular views of Lake Powell, Glen Canyon and the Navajo Reservation. For fishing, there's nothing quite like Lake Powell. With miles of shoreline, 96 canyons and hundreds of shady coves, the fishing for trout, catfish and crappie is superb. Other lake activities include swimming, boating, water skiing and scuba diving. Page is also home to a new championship-style, 18-hole golf course that has a country club setting. The views from this course are spectacular and club rentals are available. Tee times are reserved one week in advance.

Page Weather & Climate

Northern Arizona has an arid climate with hot, dry summers and mild, but chilly winters. There is very little snowfall in this area of the state, although the nearby mountains receive much more. There is also less rainfall here than other areas of the state. This is due to the rain shadow effect on the more southerly mountains, blocking the Pacific moisture. This northern area of Arizona is a plateau at a significantly higher altitude than the lower desert. This accounts for the cooler climate. Temperatures in summer are appreciably cooler than central Arizona. Extremely cold temperatures in the wintertime are not uncommon as cold air systems from the northern states and Canada occasionally push into the northern part of the state. Even so, extreme or damaging storms are rare in this part of Arizona.
