Arizona-City
is a planned community located in central Arizona in the Santa Cruz Basin. It is just three miles south of the intersection of Interstates 8 and 10. Tucson is 54 miles to the south and Phoenix is 56 miles north, making Arizona City the exact midpoint of these two large metropolitan areas. This community, which boasts having the "purest water in the state," has loads of small town charm and a scenic desert setting. Called "one of the best kept secrets along Arizona's Golden Corridor," it is home to 48-acre Paradise Lake, which offers boating, sailing and fishing. Happy Days Park is another popular spot and includes a playground for children, picnicking and outdoor grills. Several other large lakes are within a short, scenic drive. Arizona City also has an 18-hole golf course and rock hounds will enjoy searching for agates at the Agate Fields just south of town. Picacho Peak State Park is 22 miles southeast of town and is the location of Arizona's only Civil War battlefield. This park offers hiking trails, camping and picnicking and spectacular views from the summit of Picacho Peak. The Casa Grande Ruins National Monument is located 20 miles north of Arizona City. These ruins date to the 14th century and the imposing four-story "Big House" is believed to have been a kind of astronomical observatory. Arizona City's unique location makes it easily accessible to the conveniences of the nearby cities, yet it has all the comforts of a peaceful, rural setting.

South-central Arizona, in the Santa Cruz Basin region south of Phoenix, has a desert climate. Extremely hot, sunny summers and mild to warm winters are the norm. A desert climate has low annual rainfall and low relative humidity. Daytime temperatures are high throughout the summer months, often topping the century mark. In winter, nighttime temperatures sometimes drop below freezing during the three coldest months, but the afternoons are usually sunny and warm. There are two rainfall seasons in southern Arizona; the winter months from November through March when the area is subjected to occasional storms from the Pacific Ocean, and the second period is during July and August. Snowfall very rarely occurs in this part of Arizona. Summer thunderstorms seldom occur in the valley before evening. Dust storms are another possibility in the summertime.
