Casa-Grande
is strategically located at the intersection I-8 and I-10 in an area known as Arizonas Golden Corridor, midway between Phoenix and Tucson. With a current population of around 29,000, Casa Grande was founded in 1879 and named for the famous Hohokam Indian ruins located 20 miles to the northeast. The town's scenic attractions and mild climate make it very attractive to tourists and part time winter residents. The Casa Grande Valley Historical Museum offers many displays and facts about the area, and a walking tour of the town includes the historic railroad station and other unique buildings. A Farmer's Market is held every Tuesday and Saturday in Casa Grande from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and Art in the Valley is held the last Tuesday of each month, September thru June, 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The town also hosts an annual Historic Downtown Street Fair. One of the most interesting places to visit while visiting Casa Grande is the ruins for which the town was named. The Casa Grande Ruins National Monument contains an impressive four-story building that dates to the late Hohokum period, probably 14th century. It's situated between the Gila and Santa Cruz Rivers and was once part of a collection of settlements scattered along the Gila River and linked by a network of irrigation canals. This area has a very low elevation and during the spring, the Monument is often the hottest place in the whole U.S., and even in winter, daytime highs reach 80 degrees.

Casa Grande Weather & Climate
South-central Arizona, in the Santa Cruz Basin region south of Phoenix, has a desert climate. Extremely hot, sunny summers and mild to warm winters are the norm. A desert climate has low annual rainfall and low relative humidity. Daytime temperatures are high throughout the summer months, often topping the century mark. In winter, nighttime temperatures sometimes drop below freezing during the three coldest months, but the afternoons are usually sunny and warm. There are two rainfall seasons in southern Arizona; the winter months from November through March when the area is subjected to occasional storms from the Pacific Ocean, and the second period is during July and August. Snowfall very rarely occurs in this part of Arizona. Summer thunderstorms seldom occur in the valley before evening. Dust storms are another possibility in the summertime.
