Queen-Creek
is located in the southeast corner of Maricopa County, only a 45-minute drive from the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. Called "One of the Best-Kept Secrets in Arizona," Queen Creek, however, is a world apart from city life. Its' 19,000 residents enjoy all the benefits of the nearby metropolitan area, but live in a small town atmosphere with a low crime rate, excellent air quality, a slower pace of life and a variety of recreational activities. The San Tan and Goldmine Mountains are visible from Queen Creek to the south, and the Superstition Mountains to the northeast. Founders' Park, Desert Mountain Park and the Community Center offer ball fields, basketball and volleyball courts, and there are four 18-hole golf courses available in Queen Creek area. You can go hiking or horseback riding in the nearby mountains or on one of the many trails in the surrounding countryside. One of Arizona's largest shopping malls, Superstition Springs Center, is just 15 minutes north of Queen Creek. Schnepf Farms is one of the town's most popular attractions, and offers educational tours and field trips, camping and several special events throughout the year, such as their Pumpkin and Chili Party in October and Winter Wonderland, A Christmas Light Spectacular.

South-central Arizona has a subtropical desert climate. The area just east of Phoenix near the Superstitious Mountains, has hot, sunny summers and mild winters. Temperatures in the summer often exceed 100 degrees F., with a few days each year generally reaching 110 F. The higher altitude in the eastern portion of the wilderness area has slightly lower temperatures than the western portion. The elevation in this region is approximately 2,000 feet above sea level. Average annual rainfall is about 8 inches. Thunderstorms are possible anytime of the year, but occur most often during the monsoon from July to early September. Storms are also possible in winter and occasionally produce significant rain. Snow of any measurable accumulation is rare.
