Bullhead-City
is located on the Colorado River near the spot where Arizona, Nevada and California meet. This thriving community began as a gold mining town in the mid-1800s, and became the headquarters for the construction of Davis Dam in the 1940s. Today it's a year round vacation community and the economic and retail shopping hub for Western Mohave County and Southeastern Clark County, Nevada. Bullhead City is also located right across the Colorado River from one of the country's most popular gaming communities - Laughlin, Nevada. The Colorado River Valley, which is known across the Southwest as a summer vacation paradise, offers excellent fishing and boating on the fast-flowing Colorado River or the warm, smooth waters of Lake Mohave. Visitors can also enjoy hiking, golf, off-road vehicle sports, rockhounding and exploring the area's fascinating ghost towns. Bullhead City makes a good base location from which to enjoy the surrounding area's many special events and activities. Some of those include the Dixieland Jazz Festival in January at Lake Havasu, the Bullhead City Gem & Mineral Show in March, Laughlin River Days in June, August and September, the Laughlin Balloon Fest in October and the Bullhead City Hardyville Days in November. Bullhead City is approximately 94 miles to Las Vegas, 70 miles to the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and 63 miles to the Mohave National Preserve.

Bullhead City Weather & Climate

A hot, desert climate with mild winters describes Needles' weather. Located in southern California just west the Arizona State line, Needles is one of the hottest and driest places in the state. For instance, in the summer, it can have highs in excess of 110 degrees. Winters, by comparison, are very mild with cool evenings. Summer is a dry period, although occasionally moist air drifts northward from the Gulf of Mexico or the Gulf of California and creates scattered, locally heavy showers. What rain that does occur in the wintertime is usually between the months of January through March. People who enjoy outdoors sports are attracted to Needles' warm winters and abundance of sunny days.
