Mohave-Valley is a "census-designated place" located in the northwest corner of Arizona. The population is around 14,000. It lies between Bullhead City and Lake Havasu City. The community of Mohave Valley is part of Mohave County, which contains parts of Grand Canyon National Park, Lake Mead National Recreation Area and all of the Grand Canyon-Parashant National Monument. Things to do in the area include hiking, golf, horseback riding, off-road vehicle sports, rockhounding and exploring the area's ghost towns and old mining towns. If hiking in the desert, please use caution and always take plenty of water and let someone know where you're going. The beautiful Colorado River provides opportunities for boating, fishing, water-skiing, rafting and more. There's also lots of special events in the area: the Dixieland Jazz Festival at Lake Havasu in January, the Bullhead City Gem & Mineral Show in March, Laughlin River Days, the Laughlin Balloon Fest in October and the Bullhead City Hardyville Days in November. Laughlin, Nevada, which is one of the country's most popular gaming communities is also an easy drive from Mohave Valley. It's about 18 miles north, right across the Colorado River from Bullhead City.

Mohave Valley Weather & Climate

A hot, desert climate with mild winters describes Needles' weather. Located in southern California just west the Arizona State line, Needles is one of the hottest and driest places in the state. For instance, in the summer, it can have highs in excess of 110 degrees. Winters, by comparison, are very mild with cool evenings. Summer is a dry period, although occasionally moist air drifts northward from the Gulf of Mexico or the Gulf of California and creates scattered, locally heavy showers. What rain that does occur in the wintertime is usually between the months of January through March. People who enjoy outdoors sports are attracted to Needles' warm winters and abundance of sunny days.
