Parker-Canyon-Lake
is located in southeastern Arizona, about seven miles north of the Mexico border. This lovely 130-acre lake is set high in the rolling Canelo Hills of Cochise County. A cool blue gem, it's very unlike the arid desert regions to the north. The city of Tucson is just a short drive from Parker Canyon Lake. Around the lake are a number of inlets and coves that creates a surprising amount of shoreline. This makes the actual circumference of the lake much more than it seems, just by looking at the body of water. There is a Mercantile & Marina store at the lake, restrooms, a boat ramp, fishing pier and a 65-space campground. Things to do include boating, fishing, kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, picnicking and camping. The lake is stocked with bass, catfish, bluegill, sunfish and sometimes trout. The hiking trail around Parker Canyon Lake is a fairly level dirt pathway, except in a couple of places where the route climbs rather steeply over high rocky bluffs. Here, the path becomes a narrow passage 50 or 60 feet above the lakes surface. The lake lies at about 5,400 elevation, ringed by forest, which generally makes it about 10 degrees cooler than Tucson.

Parker Canyon Lake Weather & Climate
The southeast portion of Arizona has a desert climate, but is cooler and wetter than the central desert region due to its' higher elevation. The elevation in southeast Arizona averages 6,000 feet. It has four seasons, with summer and winter being the major ones, and a monsoon that some residents call the "fifth" season. The southern region of Arizona averages 16 inches of rain per year, but experiences a high evapotranspiration, or loss of water. This is the reason for the desert climate classification, in spite of the higher level of precipitation. Most of the rainfall occurs during the monsoon months of July and August. Snow is a very rare occurrence in this region. Temperatures are generally comfortable, with highs in the summer in the 90s and in the 50s and 60s in the wintertime.
