Cornville
is a small community of approximately 3,500 residents, located in Yavapai County in north-central Arizona. It lies along the banks of scenic Oak Creek and serves as a bedroom community for the nearby cities of Sedona and Cottonwood. The town is most well-known for being home to U.S. Senator and 2008 Presidential Republican candidate, John McCain. There isn't a lot of commercialism in Cornville, but this is why residents love it so much. The quiet, peaceful town has been designated an "Important Bird Area" by the National Audubon Society, so its frequented by birders. The 8-acre Windmill Park is a nice place to enjoy a picnic, take a hike, or relax with the family. Other attractions in town include Eliphante, a "fantasy-scape" assembled over twenty years by artists Michael Kahn and Leda Livant. This three-acre outdoor art sanctuary features paintings, mosaics, sculptures, found art objects, water features, and more. The surrounding area outside of Cornville is quickly becoming known as Northern Arizona's Wine Country. Three wineries are located within a few miles of Cornville; Page Springs Cellars offers a tasting room, Echo Canyon Winery offers tours but doesn't have a tasting room, and Oak Creek Winery offers both a tasting room and tours. Off the beaten path, the town of Cornville is a delightful change of pace. Dont come for the nightlife, however, unless its the natural kind, or youll be disappointed.

Northwest Arizona, on the edge of the Mojave Desert, the climate is classified as arid, desert. However, due to the higher elevation between the Colorado Plateau and the Lower Colorado River Valley, temperatures are usually a few degrees cooler here, than in places located right in the desert. Summer daytime highs reach around 90 degrees F. Winter highs are generally mild, ranging in the mid to upper 50s to lower 60s. After the sun sets, winter nighttime lows can sometimes fall to near freezing or lower. This area occasionally receives a dusting of snow, though it rarely remains on the ground for longer than the mid-to-late morning. Snowfall is extremely rare in northwest Arizona. Most rainfall is received in July and August.
