Prescott-Valley is located in Yavapai County, just east of the city of Prescott, in north-central Arizona. As of the 2010 census, the population was 38,822. Prescott Valley was the seventh fastest-growing town in Arizona between 1990 and 2000. Nestled between the Mingus and Bradshaw Mountains, the town of Prescott Valley draws people looking for natural beauty and outdoor fun. The town has a peaceful quality with a wide range of modern facilities and services. For instance, there is a downtown Entertainment District, which features a variety of restaurants, a multi-screen theater, shops and a 6,000-seat community center. Prescott Valley is also just minutes to the Prescott National Forest, which offers fishing, boating, hiking, camping and picnicking. At the summit of Highway 89A between Jerome and Prescott Valley lies the Mingus Recreation Area. This is a popular place for hikers, and also provides two campgrounds. Hiking trails meander through the mountains and range from easy and short, to long and challenging. Fain Park is also located in Prescott Valley. This 100-acre park once belonged to gold prospectors on Lynx Creek. Today, it's a recreation park with a lake stocked with trout, hiking trails and you can even try your hand at gold panning.

Prescott Valley Weather & Climate

West-central Arizona has a cooler variation of a semi-arid climate due to the elevation. This region has four seasons with mild to cold winters and warm to hot summers. Summer temperatures are considerably cooler than the lower elevation central desert region. Highs average 89 degrees F. in summer and 50 degrees F. in winter. Nighttime lows are cool, though, due to the elevation and aridity. Annual precipitation is 19.2 inches with spring and early summer the driest times of the year. It snows sometimes in this region of the state, but it's typically light and usually melts very quickly. The largest portion of precipitation falls during the July and August monsoon season. Flash floods are possible during the monsoon.
